I was born and raised in Antioch, right in the heart of the California delta.  My first hunting experiences were spent with my Father chasing bucks in the Nevada sagebrush.  When I reached the age of 12, a friend introduced me to the world of duck hunting.  This experience started a fire that has continued to grow today.  I spent years acquiring calling and hunting skills that formed the foundation I am still building on.  With 22 years of experience in the field I have hunted many scenarios and enjoy passing on my knowledge.  I am blessed to have two boys who enjoy spending time in the blind with their Dad and such an understanding wife  who lets me pursue my passions.  I also enjoy introducing new hunters to the sport and guiding youth hunts for CWA.

When duck season ends the preparation for Turkeys begin.  I have chased gobblers through the California foothills for the past 15 years where I quickly learned to master a diaphragm call and how to get a rise out of a big Rio Grande Tom.  The spring weather, green hills, and the sound of thundering gobbles fuel my addiction through the season.  Whether I am carrying my shotgun or pursuing them with my bow the response of a big tom gets my heart pumping.  I have learned a lot and met some great people while helping run the Delta chapter of the NWTF where I donated my time for 7 years.

My other passion keeps me on the water when I’m not in the field.  I spent my childhood riding my bike to my favorite fishing holes.  When I got my driver’s license I bought a boat and spent my extra time on the delta catching bass and stripers.  I would also take trips with my Grandfather chasing his favorite delta fish, the channel cat.  A short time later I began fishing the S.F. bay.  My boats progressively got bigger as the salt began running through my veins.  I quickly learned the techniques of the bay and ocean and started producing solid scores of halibut, striper, and salmon.  I enjoy spending the summers in the cool weather on the bay with my Father and training my sons to be my future deckhands.

I am excited to take all my experience and apply it here at Western Outdoor Pursuits. I’m proud to support and offer quality American made products that I believe in.  Watch for these products in our first year of video production!

I was raised in the western end of the CA Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta system. Among the over 1200 miles of main river channels, sloughs & backwaters lay a myriad of diverse islands carved out of some of the most fertile soil in North America. Corn crops are the main item on the menu in the Delta, add to that over 200,000 acres of rice within an hours drive to the North which is also home to the "World Famous Butte Sink", to the South is the San Joaquin Valley otherwise known as the "Grasslands", go West & you'll run into the "Historical Suisun Marsh", the largest contiguous brackish water marsh on the west coast of North America. Encompassing 116,000 acres of which 52,000 acres are managed wetlands. To top it off throw in a plethora of Federal & State Wildlife Refuges & the table has been set to sustain staggering duck/goose populations numbering in the millions. All this plus seasons that run over a 100 days combined with liberal bag limits of 7 ducks & up to 8 geese a day & you might think the West isn't to bad a place.

It is in these areas where at the young age of 6 I started tagging along with the late Elton Wadlow my grandfather & mentor. The lessons I learned during those early years have taken me to some great places such as the biggest stage in duck hunting, the prestigious "Worlds Championship Duck Calling Contest" 5 times and a 2nd Runner Up finish in 99, 3 Provinces of the "Great Prairies" in Canada, 13 States for calling contests and hunting down to our southern neighbor Mexico for dove and ducks.

I have met some great people along the way and very fortunate to have made guest appearances in 2 waterfowl videos, own & operate a guide service, interviewed in the media by the local newspaper, television news and California Waterfowl Association Magazine. Other things I have been honored to participate in are the Pro Staff positions, writing articles for 3 publications and being printed, seminars, calling clinics, guest of honor appearances at fundraising banquets & guiding our future hunters through both the CWA & DU Youth programs.

I guess I would have to say hunting has been very good to me, especially waterfowling. However, shortly after the waders have been cleaned & hung for the year my mind turns to the CA Foothills & iridescent puffed up struttin Rio Grande Gobblers in search of lady friends. The sweet smell of spring hanging heavy amongst the oaks & digger pine roost trees, the slow running creeks bubbling along through California's Gold Country and the thundering gobble from a bird fresh off the roost is what draws me into the field at O'dark thirty now. It's time for runnin & gunnin or ground blinds & bows! Out come the diaphragm, box, slate & locator calls. Like waterfowling, location, concealment, proper calling & a good lookin fakey can make or break a hunt. Besides the feathers I enjoy chasing the unpredictable Columbian  Blacktailed deer that call the westcoast home with bow & rifle.

The relentless pursuit would not be complete if I failed to mention the world class black bass fishing the CA Delta has to offer or the infamous Clearlake both of which I have fished several tournaments on. The sturgeon, stripers & cats of the Delta have also occupied many hours of my time.

I have been blessed with 3 great sons 1 of which has the "FEVER", he loves to hunt & fish. My sons Tyeler, Elton & Trevor all love being outdoors so I would have to say "it's in the blood".

It's this passion, this calling, this burning desire to be in the pursuit that inspired us to form Western Outdoor Pursuits. We're proud of all our American partners in this venture and chomping at the bit to start production on our first of what we hope to be many Western Outdoor Pursuit video's.
